Three examples of games
The brand with the apple logo has developed its own game to teach the programming language behind iOS apps: Swift. By solving puzzles, for example, players discover the fundamental concepts of Swift.
CodeSpark has developed an engaging and colourful game called ‘Kids Coding’, which helps children understand the key concepts of web programming. There is no text; everything is based on animation. Players can submit their creations (video games or interactive stories) to be tested and reviewed by professionals.
The Scratch Foundation has also made an app available to the general public that makes computer programming accessible to everyone. By linking programming blocks together, players can customise their virtual characters. This allows them to make them move, sing or dance.
These mobile apps are tailored to children’s cognitive abilities. They enable young enthusiasts to get a foot in the door of these professions, where there is a shortage of staff.
